“Smart Shot” - AI-Powered Training for Precision Basketball Shooting
SmartShot is a conceptual model for a collaborative, data-driven basketball training system, designed to enhance shooting accuracy and consistency. The system features a thermoforming smart textile sleeve equipped with integrated sensors, worn by players during free throw and shooting drills.
By capturing movement and biomechanical data, the AI-powered analysis tool provides real-time feedback and performance insights via an intuitive interface. Coaches and players can monitor progress, identify improvement areas, and receive tailored training recommendations.
Additionally, the system facilitates comparative learning, allowing users to analyze top-performing players’ techniques and integrate optimized strategies into their training.
With its seamless combination of wearable technology, AI-driven insights, and interactive coaching support, SmartShot redefines skill development in basketball by making precision training more effective, personalized, and data-driven.
This project resulted in a pictorial developed as part of my coursework during the Master’s program in Human-Computer Interaction at Paris Lodron University Salzburg. It was not submitted to or published in any academic journals or conferences, but serves as a standalone exploration of the topic through design and visual storytelling.
